Follow Me Friday

Follow my book blog Friday is blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. This week's question is:

Q: What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don't like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it.

Oooh I hate so many things but since my rant will probably be a mile long I'll just mention my top pet peeve in books that is. I absolutely cannot stand damsels in distress. Okay so I know life's hard and all but really there's so many mopey heroines in books that I feel the need to knock some sense into these fictional characters' head and scream "Enough already! Suck up and get over it will you?"
A little distress is fine but when a female character does nothing but having these cringe worthy inner monologues on how her world revolves around that mysterious gorgeous guy all I want to do is curl up and snore. So what do you think?

  3. Agreed! Unless, maybe, if she starts out as a damsel in distress and then becomes strong...that might work. But otherwise, no. No thank you.

  6. Yes! A million and one times. I completely agree with you, there is really no room in ya fiction for mopey, irritating, and incredibly weak main character's particularly females. I need them strong, intelligent, fierce, and kick-ass phenomenal.

  7. Give me an independent heroine who can fend for herself any day! I mean, as nice as it is to have someone to come save you, to be completely dependent on them is just annoying!

  8. Damsels in distress are so boring and very annoying. You just want to yell at them to get back on their own two feet and live your life before you die!
