Follow Friday #5

Hi, everyone! It's my fifth time doing FF Friday. Although I wanted to do this every week but my schedule is pretty crazy so I'll try to do this once a month or maybe every fortnightly or so.

Q: Have you ever looked at book's cover and thought, This is going to horrible? But, was instead pleasantly surprised? Show us the cover and tell us about the book.

Man..this is a hard one. I love beautiful covers. (Who doesn't?) But some books are so confusing. Like The Hunger Games for example..the cover is so..I don't know.. boring!. But the book is awesome! Just like these books:

A red shoe and that's it? But I love Cinder! Why can't they put some cool robot chick in front instead?

A girl in a mask? How original. Karos's hair is blue but I don't think she wears a blue mask in the masquerade ball. Did she?

So what about you guys? Which cover is the most disappointing/surprising of all?

  1. I thought I was the only person who couldn't stand that Cinder cover. If it wasn't for all the rave reviews I wouldn't even read it (which I plan to do). The one for Daughter of Smoke & Bone I don't mind so much though.

  2. Hmmm, I love Cinder's cover, so I won't agree with you here. xD As for the Daughter, I find it intriguing, but it does not have anything in common with the book indeed. Maybe except that one time when there WAS a ball? I don't really remember the details. xD

    Here's my FF. ♥

  3. New follower here (#999 actually!).

I have to agree with the Cinder cover. I was kinda "Meh..." on it when I first started seeing it around the blogosphere, but it kinda just ended up growing on me. Daughter of Smoke and Bone...I haven't read yet but I do love the lettering they used!

    My FF is here.

  4. The CINDER Cover kind of creeps me out. I have to say I'm sick of seeing girls floating on covers. I'm over it.

  5. Awww I love the red shoe! lol Yeah, I don't get the blue mask either. I would have preferred a blue-haired model or something.

  7. I disagree about Cinder as well. I thought that cover was brilliant. But the other one, not so much.

    Happy Friday!

  9. I actually thought the cover of Cinder looked good, though I'll have to agree with you on Daughter of Smoke and Bone. If I were to see that book on a shelf along with other pretty covers, I might overlook it.

  10. I agree with you on Cinder, though it did make a bit of sense. Have you seen the UK cover for Daughter of Smoke and Bone? That's even more boring. Just bland feathers!

  11. I totally agree. I don't like those 2 covers either! And I'd like to add that first Blood Red Road cover. It's so plain but the book is awesome!
